Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada

Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada

A bear dressed up as a Canadian Mountie in the Columbia Icefield visitor's center.
This was taken from the large mall/Columbia Icefield Viewing Center, which has restaurants, I think maybe a small hotel, restrooms, drinking fountains, gift shops, a museum, information desks, and ticket counters where you can get bus rides up to the glacier on a special bus. Or, you can just walk up to the glacier on foot, on a trail. The icefield station is about 7333 feet in elevation, the highest elevation I've ever been, as of this day (not including the airplane rides I've taken, which takes you between 35-40 thousand feet high. I mean the highest I've ever been on land.
This is actually in Jasper National Park.
We drove from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada, to High River, Alberta, Canada, and we went out into Banff National Park (and even up into the Columbia Icefields in Jasper National Park before driving completely through Banff. Columbia Icefields is a glacier in Jasper National Park which is also in Alberta bordering Banff). Banff was amazing, and the lakes, glaciers, and mountains were cool.

Toy Shop, Shelburne Museum

This is a little out of sequence with all the pictures from our trip to Europe this summer but I wanted to submit a shot to the 10/10/10 group.

We visited the Shelburne Museum while on a trip to the Adirondacks over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. We'd never heard of the place and only dropped in to see the Ansel Adams and Edward Burtynsky exhibit. There was so much to see that we stayed for the rest of the day -- one of the highlights of our trip.
